World University of Bangladesh Launches “Environment Education Cell”

The Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design at World University of Bangladesh (WUB) launched the “WUB Environment Education Cell” on September 26, 2026, marking a significant step toward promoting environmental awareness and sustainability within the university community. The initiative has been introduced in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15 – Life on Land.

The launching ceremony was graced by Prof. Zaki Imam, Registrar of WUB, as the Chief Guest. In his remarks, he appreciated the department’s initiative and encouraged students and faculty members to actively contribute to building a greener and more environmentally conscious campus culture.

Md. Kamrul Hossain, Joint Registrar of WUB, also attended the event and expressed his support and encouragement for the department’s new environmental initiative. Dr. Ruhul Amin, Advisor to the Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design, attended the ceremony as the Special Guest and highlighted the growing importance of sustainability and environmental responsibility, particularly in the textile and fashion sector, where environmental impact remains a significant concern.

The program was presided over by Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Head of the Department of Textile Engineering & Fashion Design. In his address, he spoke about the department’s growing commitment to sustainability and how the newly established Cell would help translate this commitment into practical initiatives and everyday campus activities.

Through the establishment of the WUB Environment Education Cell, the department aims to encourage students, faculty members, and staff to adopt environmentally responsible practices and participate in various sustainability and environmental awareness initiatives. The Cell will also support activities aimed at promoting eco-conscious habits and contributing to the university’s broader commitment to SDG 15 – Life on Land.

The launching of the “WUB Environment Education Cell” marks another step in World University of Bangladesh’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainability, environmental responsibility, and SDG-focused initiatives across its academic community.
