Why We Are Better

Bangladesh’s economy is largely dependent on Textile and clothing industry. Exports of textile and garments are the principal source of foreign exchange earnings. In the financial year 2016-2017, the RMG sector generated USD 28.14 billion which was 80.7% of the total earnings in exports and 12.36% of GDP. It is anticipated that garment export will be doubled in the coming 10 years. Currently, textile industry accounts for 45% of all industrial employment in the country.

From the inception of establishment we have been putting our best efforts to enrich the Department of Textile Engineering of WUB with modern laboratory facilities. Over the years, we have set up yarn manufacturing (spinning), fabric manufacturing (weaving and knitting), wet processing (dyeing, printing and finishing), apparel manufacturing, textile testing, and computer laboratories. At the same time, we maintain close and collaborative relationships with the textile and apparel industries and various research institutes for executing our academic programs and providing practical education to the students. Seminars and mill visits are organized on regular basis to update the students and the faculty members with latest technological developments.

Our list of faculty members is an eclectic mix of talented individuals with a diverse range of life experiences, outlooks and motivation, but they all share the same passion for success. As a team, we harness this diversity of experience to maximize the quality of the students.

If we want to find the key features of our department, we have to mention the strong mentoring system of it. Each weak student is mentored so that he/she may find alternative ways to succeed. Here, we always promote every extracurricular and co -curricular activities so that the students can chalk out the best in them to become potential future leaders. We follow definite path of year plan to perform our activities more accurately. As we all know, without having proper knowledge we can’t sustain in this competitive world. That’s why all the students of the department have got the opportunity to the UDL (University Digital Library by UGC). We do follow outcome based curriculum to make the students conscious of their learning and in order to get the best result the teachers follow the higher order learning procedure for ensuring effective learning.
