The Fashion and Apparel industry is unparalleled in its impact on Bangladesh's economy, significantly contributing to foreign currency earnings, production growth, and employment opportunities.

Additionally, this industry has been a catalyst for innovation and creativity, driving the increasing demand for skilled professionals in fashion design. The Program of Fashion Design and Apparel Technology at World University of Bangladesh is at the forefront of this movement, nurturing talent that is essential for maintaining the industry’s competitive edge and fostering continued growth.

The continuous expansion of the apparel industry in Bangladesh has created a growing demand for skilled professionals with a strong background in both fashion design and apparel technology. To address this demand and remain competitive in the global fashion & apparel market, the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) launched the 4 year undergraduate program ‘B.Sc. in Fashion Design and Apparel Technology’ under the Department of Textile Engineering and Fashion Design since 2022 and have been running smoothly till now.

WUB’s Fashion Design and Apparel Technology is committed to providing a modern and up to date education that aligns with the standards of developed nations. The Program is committed to blending engineering expertise with creative fashion design, producing graduates who are not only technically proficient but also innovative and forward thinking in their approach to the textile & fashion industry. The program operates on a semester system, with two semesters each year, and the medium of instruction is English. Since its inception, the department has produced graduates who have excelled in various fashion and apparel industries, as well as in commercial organizations both within Bangladesh and internationally.

The Department of Fashion Design and Apparel Technology maintains close and collaborative relationships with leading Fashion Brand and Fashion & Apparel industries, as well as with fashion research institutes, to enhance the practical and academic experience of our students.

From the beginning, the department has encouraged students to participate in extracurricular activities that allow them to explore and showcase their creative works. In support of this, the WUB Fashion Club was established as a platform for students to express their ideas, leadership skills, and hidden talents. The club organizes a wide range of extracurricular and co-curricular activities and remains dedicated to fostering progress and development. Additionally, we take pride in the establishment of the WUB Textile Alumni Association, which continues to strengthen the bond among our graduates. To establish strong ties with fashion brands and industry professionals for internships and job placements. Organize fashion shows, workshops, and seminars to provide students with industry exposure.

Entry Requirements:

S.S.C and H.S.C

Minimum 2nd Class in S.S.C. and H.S.C. or a GPA of 2.50 or its equivalent with a total of 12 years’ education.

GCE O level And A level

Students completing five O-level subjects and at least two A-level subjects may apply. Out of these 7 subjects applicants must have minimum 4 ‘B’ grade & 3 ‘C’ grade.

Duration of the Program:

Normally 4 years including period for internship/dissertation/project. However, students who have completed prior credits either from the BTEB, EDEXCEL (e.g. HND, ND, and other diplomas), etc. may be entitled to course exemptions or credit transfer provided that evidence of completion of degrees or courses with satisfactory grades is provided and is approved by the Academic Council. This will enable students to finish the degree in less than four years’ period.
