Biography
Md. Shamsuzzaman is currently serving as an Assistant Professor and Coordinator in the Department of Textile Engineering, where he has been actively contributing since September 2017. He began his academic career as a Lecturer, was promoted to Senior Lecturer on July 1, 2021, and further promoted to Assistant Professor on November 1, 2022, recognizing his excellence in teaching, research, and academic leadership. Alongside his academic roles, he has been instrumental in departmental coordination, curriculum development, and fostering strong industry-academia linkages.
Before joining academia, he gained significant professional experience in the ready-made garments (RMG) and textile sector. He worked at Silken Sewing Ltd. (Platinum, LEED certified) for 1.8 years, where he contributed to sustainable manufacturing practices and production management, and also spent nearly a year with AJI Group, gaining hands-on expertise in apparel operations and quality management. These professional experiences provided him with practical insights into sustainability, lean production, compliance, and supply chain processes in the global fashion industry.
He completed his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Textile Engineering at the World University of Bangladesh in 2015, specializing in Apparel Manufacturing. His undergraduate thesis focused on production efficiency and quality control systems in garment factories, reflecting his early interest in industrial optimization. He then pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Textile Engineering at the Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX), which he successfully completed in 2019. His Master’s specialization was in Apparel Manufacturing, and his thesis, titled “Quantifying environmental sustainability of denim garments washing factories through effluent analysis: A case study in Bangladesh”, was later published in Journal of Cleaner Production (ScienceDirect), marking a significant contribution to research on sustainability in textile wet processing and management.
